The Nightmare Before Christmas isn’t really a traditional chick flick, but it’s really not a traditional flick period. For that reason alone, I think everyone should see it at least once.

Everything about The Nightmare Before Christmas works. I personally wasn’t frightened of any of the imagery but I can see how come people would be. Just keep that in mind, and you’ll be fine. It isn’t a horror movie. It isn’t a Christmas movie. It isn’t a Halloween movie. It’s just a good movie.

It’s also a love story. Jack and Sally are one of my favorite movie couples of all time. They’re so sweet. It’s hard not to hope they end up together in the end. Do they? Watch the movie and find out.

Oh my GOSH! This cast! John Travolta (Grease), Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes (She’s The Man), James Marsden (The Notebook, 27 Dresses), Queen Latifah (The Secret Life of Bees), Brittney Snow(John Tucker Must Die), Zac Efron (17 Again, High School Musical), Allison Janney (10 Things I Hate About You, Juno, American Beauty), Nikki Blonsky and even Jerry Stiller are nothing short of amazing in their roles and help make Hairspray one of the best musicals ever!

Director Adam Shankman expertly directs this adaptation of the original 1988 screenplay by the legendary John Waters and Leslie Dixon without losing the spirit and fun that we all loved about Hairspray to begin with. It might be a bit more mainstream than Waters original, but it keeps its biting satire and above all else, entertains and delights. This is a good, fun, watch for movie fans and musical fans alike.

Moulin Rouge (2001)

Moulin Rouge is one of my all time favorite musicals. Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet) gives us a bold, imaginative and visually stunning movie that goes above and beyond what we’ve come to expect from musicals and movies in general.

The entire cast is incredible, but Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor give knock out performances that left me awestruck. The music is great – fun when it needs to be fun and emotional and heart-wrenching when it needs to bring tears to our eyes.

Moulin Rouge isn’t really for everyone. Some were put off by the fast paced editing, but I thought it was marvelous. My eyes were glued to the screen for the entire duration of the movie.

Grease is the quintessential chick flick. What can I really say about it? Great songs. Great acting. Great fun. Watch Grease. It’s one of my all time favorite musicals – one of my all time favorite movies.

Sandy and Danny are such a great movie couple. You’re really rooting from them through the entire movie. There is a reason Grease is such a classic. It makes you feel good. It’s a happy, fun, entertaining movie and you can’t help singing along with the songs you’ve come to love so much.

Mamma Mia! (2008)

I have loved Abba since I was a little girl but haven’t yet had the chance to see Mamma Mia on the stage. As soon as I heard there was a movie being made – starring the ridiculously talented Meryl Streep, no less – I knew I had to see it. I was even more thrilled to learn the brilliant Christine Baranski would be playing a role. I wasn’t disappointed in the least, in fact, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

It’s impossible not to get caught up in the fun when watching Mamma Mia. It’s infectious. Try not to sing along or tap your toes. Impossible!
